Our vehicles tend to go through a hard time during the colder months— salt, gravel, sand, dirt, and muck all tend to leave vehicles dirty inside and out! Here are some tips for a good spring cleaning for your vehicle! 

Window Cleaning 

It’s incredible how simple cleaning your vehicle’s windows makes it look great. However, it is often the most straightforward cleaning steps that can cause the most significant rewards and enhance the safety of your vehicle. It’s essential to clean the visual points in our vehicle that help us see it all on the road. From the side mirrors, rearview & our primary windshield, we turn to Windex for a fast yet effective answer. Use Windex spray and a wipe with some paper towel, and voila! 

Organize

Take the time to clean out all of the little compartments within your vehicle. In your rush to get inside and out of the cold during the winter, we often leave random things in our consoles and forget about them! Get the compartments cleaned out and organized. Buy a small folder to keep important information in. 

Get Into The Crevasses 

Remember to consider the power a small bristle paintbrush can have for your vehicle. It’s the perfect size and sturdiness to get into those hard-to-reach places- such as your dash and console areas. Take the time to use the correct cleaner for each surface, especially if you have leather trim. 

New Wipers

In the fall/winter weather, we experience much dirt, leaves, and other debris efficiently attaching to your blades and under the wipers. When this grime is left for long periods, that grime begins to harm your windshield and your blades. By running a clean cloth along with the edges and in the inner channels, you are doing such a simple step to keep them at maximum efficiency and give yourself better visibility. 

Replace Your Old Air Filter

A dirty air filter won’t let your engine “breathe” as freely as it should, reducing your vehicle’s performance. If your vehicle’s air filter is already filled with gunk, how can it continue filtering out the bad stuff? A standard test to see if you need a new filter is to hold the filter up to a light. If you can see the light coming through the filter, the filter is good to go. 

Clean Out the Trunk

We often don’t want to know what is even in those trunks. But we know that we throw many random things back during the colder months. From ice scrapers and snow brushes to empty windshield washer fluid bottles and old blankets, there can be a ton of stuff in our vehicle’s trunk when the grass turns green. It’s best to clear all this stuff out. Your summertime self will thank you for getting all the space you need for picnic baskets, folding lawn chairs, and beach umbrellas. 

Wheels 

Pay extra attention to your vehicle’s wheels and tires. Remove the hubcaps and clean them well. Decent water pressure on a standard hose can remove layers and layers of built-up grime that your tires have experienced. Cleaning your tires is an excellent time to check the tire pressure and tighten any loose nuts.
